Government allocates UAH 163 mln to pay salaries to coal miners

The State Treasury has transferred UAH 163 million to pay salaries to coal miners, according to the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection.
"Today the State Treasury Service of Ukraine has transferred UAH 163 million, which will be aimed at ensuring miners' remuneration and making mandatory payments related to the payment of wages,” reads the report.
As reported, on February 4, at a meeting attended by representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada, President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the importance of solving the issue of wage arrears to miners and developing a concept to reorganize the coal industry. According to the president, the total debt to miners made up UAH 922 million as of January 1, 2020.
