During the transition period, the UK will continue to apply EU laws, but will no longer be represented in EU institutions. The transitional period may be extended only once for a period of one or two years, if both parties agree to this before July 1, 2020. Prime Minister Boris Johnson will address the nation tonight to announce the "dawn of a new era," the BBC said. "The most important thing to say tonight is not the end, but the beginning. This is the moment of real national renewal and change," Johnson said the day before. Brexit supporters will celebrate today at Parliament Square in London.
