The talks between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund are in active phase.
"The IMF mission led by Ron Van Rooden began its work in Kyiv on September 12 and continues to meet with government officials as scheduled. The talks between Ukraine and the IMF are in active phase," the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine posted on Facebook. The Ministry notes that 14-month Stand-By Arrangement remains in force. It was elaborated as a transitional program to promote the macroeconomic stability of Ukraine during presidential and parliamentary elections. As reported, the IMF mission completes its work in Ukraine on September 26 and is expected to release a statement on the results of its work in the country on September 27. At the beginning of July, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said at a meeting with IMF First Deputy Managing Director David Lipton that cooperation with the IMF remained a priority for the Ukrainian authorities. The National Bank of Ukraine stated that Ukraine should sign a new long-term cooperation program with the IMF to the tune of $5-10 billion. The first tranche under the new IMF program, according to NBU forecasts, could be transferred by the end of 2019. The NBU expects it to be about $2 billion. The IMF's previous 14-month Stand-By Arrangement for Ukraine was approved at the end of 2018. It provided for the allocation of three tranches. Ukraine received the first and only IMF tranche under this program on December 21, 2018. другие новости
