Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed on a possible meeting between the leaders of the Normandy format countries, the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state has reported, following a phone call between Zelensky and Putin - Ukrinform.
"The importance of dialogue as part of the Trilateral Contact Group was discussed. Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that he would protect the rights of all Ukrainians, no matter where they stay, and there is no need to amend the Constitution of Ukraine for this purpose. The sides agreed on a possible meeting between the leaders of the Normandy format countries. Working groups are currently working out documents to be signed at the highest level," the report said. According to the press service, Zelensky emphasized the importance of strict observance of the ceasefire established on July 21, as well as the disengagement of troops from the contact line. The sides discussed the situation with the night shelling that killed four Ukrainian servicemen. "Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the unacceptability of this happening again," the press service said. The presidents of Ukraine and Russia also discussed the demining process in the area of Stanytsia Luhanska, which is needed for the beginning of reconstruction work and the repair of a bridge.
