NewsRSSGovernment to consider Zelensky's motion for Klitschko's dismissal
26 of July 2019 г.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman will submit at the next government meeting a presidential motion for Vitali Klitschko's dismissal as chairman of Kyiv City State Administration.
Groysman said this live on Radio NV on Friday, July 26, according to an Ukrinform correspondent. "We have received a motion from the president for approval. You know that in accordance with the Constitution, the heads of city state administrations step down from office before the newly elected president of Ukraine. This is an absolutely logical story, and it has already passed with regard to many governors, the heads of regional state administrations. One way or another, he [Klitschko] will step down from office before the president. Then, the question of appointment will be raised, but I cannot say whether the president will appoint Klitschko or not. I did not speak with the president on this topic," Groysman said. When asked how the government will respond to a letter from the president, he said that as prime minister, he would submit this issue for consideration by the government at its next meeting. "All previous decisions of this kind were supported by the government. I emphasize that this is the authority of the president. I did not prevent the previous president from appointing the heads of administrations and I will not prevent the incumbent president from doing so. We'll see what the government decides. We will discuss this issue. There was no discussion on this topic because we received this motion only on Wednesday morning, so we will discuss it and analyze it," Groysman said.
