NewsRSSParubiy sees crisis in Ukraine related to president's actions
31 of May 2019 г.
Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy has said he believes that Ukraine is facing a crisis associated with the actions of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
He said this at a parliament meeting on Friday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent. "The country is going through difficult times and the country, unfortunately, is facing a crisis associated with the actions of the president. Yesterday's publication of a transcript [of the president's consultations with the heads of parliamentary factions on May 21] has confirmed this. Moreover, yesterday we heard representatives of the president, members of his team say that it is necessary to repeal the language law, abolish [language] quotas, abolish decommunization and, unfortunately, today it becomes a usual policy for them. So I want to say on behalf of the Verkhovna Rada and the government that the Ukrainian people will not let you do it," Parubiy said. He stressed that he would not allow the abolition of the laws on language and decommunization since the Ukrainian people had been striving for that for decades. Earlier, a representative of Zelensky's team, co-owner of the Studio Kvartal 95, Borys Shefir, said he expected the new president to abolish language quotas and the language law. Shefir also said that "agreement could be reached" with Russian President Vladimir Putin. другие новости
