The Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation is not effective from today.
The document was signed in Kyiv on May 31, 1997. The parties undertook, in particular, to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of each other and to reaffirm the inviolability of the borders between them. The treaty was signed for a term of ten years, and its effect was automatically extended in 2008. On December 6, 2018, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill terminating the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. On December 10, the head of state signed the bill into law. On September 21, 2018, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry sent a note to Russia notifying that the friendship treaty would not be prolonged. On March 11, 2019, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed the receipt of the note. Отправить в:      другие новости
