On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the illegal annexation of Crimea, the Foreign Ministry of Austria has stated it condemns this serious violation of international law and reaffirms its full support of the European Union’s position on this issue.
The ministry wrote about this on its Facebook page. “Today the fifth anniversary of the illegal annexation of Crimea is marked. Austria supports the position of the European Union and condemns the illegal annexation of Crimea as a serious violation of international law,” reads the report with a hashtag #crimeaisukraine. Also, the Foreign Ministry of Austria added a reference to the declaration of High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini that the European Union remains committed to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and it does not recognize and continues to condemn the violation of international law by Russia. Federica Mogherini in the statement said that the EU again called on the UN Member States to consider Crimea annexation non-recognition measures in line with the UN General Assembly Resolution 68/262.
