Ukrainian Dmytro Pidruchnyi wins gold at Biathlon World Championships

Ukrainian Dmytro Pidruchnyi, 27, has won a gold medal in the men's 12.5km pursuit at the Biathlon World Championships in Ostersund, Sweden.
Pidruchnyi (two penalties) finished 8.3 seconds ahead of Norway's Johannes Thingnes Boe (five penalties), who took silver, and 17.7 seconds ahead of France's Quentin Fillon Maillet (three penalties), who claimed bronze.
Another Ukrainian, Ruslan Tkalenko (two penalties), took 38th place.
Pidruchnyi won a historic gold medal. A resident of Ternopil became the first Ukrainian biathlete to win the men's world biathlon gold.
The Biathlon World Championships will end on March 17.
