The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has adopted the president-proposed law "On the approval of the decision of the president of Ukraine on the admission of units of the armed forces of other states to the territory of Ukraine in 2019 for participation in multinational exercises."
A total of 263 MPs voted for such a decision at a parliament meeting on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent said. "The adoption of bill No. 10067 is stipulated by the need to fulfill the requirements envisaged by Article 85 of the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the admission of units of the armed forces of other states to the territory of Ukraine. It is planned to involve more than 14,000 servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and about 8,000 foreign participants in these exercises," Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Oleh Shevchuk said, presenting the law. According to the annex to the document, the issue concerns multinational exercises on training the units of armed forces, in particular, Ukrainian-U.S. Exercise Rapid Trident 2019, Ukrainian-U.S. Exercise Sea Breeze 2019, Ukrainian-Romanian Exercise Riverine 2019, multinational exercise Maple Arch 2019, and Ukrainian-British Exercise Warrior Watcher 2019.
