NewsRSSGovt begins automatic pension indexation - Groysman
25 of February 2019 г.
Ukraine's government, as part of continuing the pension reform, is beginning its new phase - the introduction of an automatic annual indexation of payments.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said this at a meeting on pension indexation on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent said. "We are starting a new stage in the reform of the pension system. [...] The law [on the increase in pensions] approved in 2017, which was signed by the president, states that the systemic indexation of pensions will take place in 2019 for the first time. Not manually, as politicians did it every 5-7 years, but every year. The decision introducing such indexation will actually be enacted today," Groysman said. The head of government stressed that the standard of living of people is usually measured by the standard of living of children and retirees. There is the middle class between them, which works, gets salaries and pays taxes, and these funds are used to improve the quality of life of the elderly, Groysman said. "We'll go further. I am convinced that on our part this won't be the first and last increase. We can implement it, relying on the real state of the economy. Our task is to take care of the poorest," Groysman said. The meeting was also attended by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and government members. According to the Cabinet of Ministers, thanks to the government reform of the pension system, about ten million retirees received in October 2017 an increase in pensions depending on a number of factors, including the danger of working conditions and seniority. In 2018, military pensioners received an increase in pensions. The government conducted the second wave of improvement in January 2019. другие новости
