Ukraine takes all measures to create a competitive transport market and introduces the innovative models of transport development.
"Ukraine takes all measures to create a competitive transport market and ensure equal access to infrastructure, introduces the innovative models of development and investment attraction," Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan said at the meeting with the Caterpillar’s sales director, the ministry’s press service reports - Ukrinform. As noted, significant funds will be invested in modernization of the rolling stock of the PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) in the following years. Omelyan expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation between the parties in search for technical solutions for the modernization of locomotives used by the Ukrainian railway enterprises. The representatives of the Caterpillar company, in turn, noted that the company was interested in entering the Ukrainian market not only as a locomotive manufacturer but also to provide a full range of specialized machinery. In addition, Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan discussed with Chris Jennions, the business development manager at the Bechtel company, the promising infrastructure projects in which the company can participate, in particular, the concession of railway stations and the construction of the Odesa-Kyiv high-speed railway. The meetings took place within the framework of the first official U.S. trade mission to Ukraine.
