"The criminal proceedings against Hennadiy Kernes have been closed because of systematic failure of the prosecution to appear in court," Judge Andriy Antonov announced in the Kyivsky District Court of Poltava city.
Nineteen prosecutors, involved in the case against Hennadiy Kernes, did not appear at the last court hearings to support their indictment.
As reported, on March 2, 2015, the Kharkiv city mayor and two his bodyguards were informed of suspicion on three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They were accused of kidnapping, torturing and threatening to kill two EuroMaidan activists on January 25, 2014.
Hennadiy Kernes and his bodyguards pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
