Vitaliy Serdiuk, the lawyer of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, has said he will stop attending hearings of Kyiv's Obolonsky District Court on his client's high treason case - Interfax.
After the court recessed due to Serdiuk's hindering the beginning of argument, the lawyer told reporters he would file documents with the court's office about the illegality of the conduct of the judges, challenge the composition of the court and the prosecution, and fulfill Yanukovych's instruction of appealing to international entities over the court's violation of the former president's rights.
"I have the client's order to urgently submit materials to all international human rights organizations and monitoring missions of the OSCE and the UN in case of evidently illegal actions preventing witnesses who are ready to tell the truth about the 2014 events from testifying," Serdiuk said.
The lawyer said he "had to rapidly respond to the obviously unlawful actions of the court, which contravene the European Convention on Human Rights and have the sole purpose of fulfilling the government's order to expedite the sentencing of Viktor Yanukovych."
