Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Liudmyla Denisova has demanded that Russia adjust a list of Russians held in Ukraine for visits to them by the Russian ombudsman and grant permission for mirror visits to Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia.
She wrote this on Facebook following a meeting of government representatives with the families of political prisoners on Tuesday. "The Russian side provided us with a list of 51 people who should be visited, but only 13 people from this list have Russian citizenship. Moreover, some of them refused to meet with Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova. At the moment, we demand that Russia adjust its list. From her part Tatyana Moskalkova has already visited seven sailors from her list," Denisova said. She also stressed that Ukraine again offers the Russian side a road map of mutual visits to detained citizens of the countries and requires urgent permission for visits to Ukrainians in Russia. "Now, in accordance with the agreements, we want to visit our citizens. We again offer them a 'road map of visits.' I have already publicly appealed to FSB, FSIN and the Russian Presidential Administration with the request to grant permission to visit Ukrainian political prisoners.
