The U.S. and Russian presidents have different views on the situation in Ukraine and there is no reason to say that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have reached a certain agreement on Ukraine.
Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said this live on the Polish television channel Republika, when asked whether the summit in Helsinki could be considered "a second Yalta meeting." "This is not a grounded opinion, nothing testifies about it. The difference with regard to Ukraine was clearly stated at the press conference. There is no such anxiety here," Czaputowicz said. He also added that some people believe that the fact of the conversation between Trump and Putin may be an indication of some agreement on Ukraine. "But I do not think that there was a conversation on this topic," the minister said. As reported, Trump and Putin after the summit in Helsinki on July 16 expressed different views on the territorial status of Crimea. Putin said at the press conference that the U.S. president is talking about the illegality of Crimea's accession to Russia, but, according to Putin, the Crimea issue is already "closed" for Russia. People in the United States started actively criticizing Trump for his controversial and scandalous remarks, in particular, because he believes Putin more than U.S. intelligence regarding Russia's meddling in U.S. elections in 2016.
