NewsRSSJames Bezan: Canada should provide Ukraine with weapons, previously intended for Kurds
22 of June 2018 г.
Ukraine should be provided with lethal defensive aid previously intended for the Kurdish Peshmerga.
Conservative Shadow Minister for National Defence of Canada James Bezan writes this in his article for The National Post. "Instead of sitting on weapons, and having them simply take up space in storage facilities, they could be put to use by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who have repeatedly made requests for these kinds of arms. This will be a real help to our Ukrainian allies as they fight for their liberty and independence," he writes. He recalled that Justin Trudeau had committed to providing $9.5-million worth of military weapons to the Kurdish Peshmerga in their fight against ISIL. However, this plan has fallen through. “Gen. Jonathan Vance, Chief of the Defence Staff for the Canadian Armed Forces, has himself acknowledged the unlikelihood of these arms ever finding their way into Kurdish military service,” Bezan noted. The lawmaker stressed that his party would take real action to support Ukraine and take a stand against Russia’s illegal aggression. “An Andrew Scheer Conservative government will provide Ukraine with lethal defensive aid by supplying Ukraine with lethal defensive weapons previously intended for the Kurdish Peshmerga,” he summed up. The next parliamentary elections in Canada will be held in autumn 2019. другие новости
