Spring conscription campaign in Ukraine starts today, April 2, and will last until the end of May.
Artur Artemenko, the Head of the Main Directorate of Personnel – Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this, Ukrinform reports. "All draft commissions will begin their work on April 2 and complete it on May 31. A total of UAH 61.6 million in spending on the conscription campaign will be transferred to the commissions by April 6," Artemenko said. According to a government resolution, 15,190 servicemen will be conscripted into to the Armed Forces and other military formations of Ukraine in April-May for compulsory military service. In particular, 8,990 servicemen will join the Armed Forces, 1,000 - the State Special Transport Service, 1,200 – the State Border Guard Service, and 4,000 - the National Guard. As reported, President Petro Poroshenko on February 15 signed a decree on the dismissal of previous conscripts and the dates for the next military drafts for Ukrainian citizens in 2018.
